Evo X ECU Bench Process

Evo X ECU Bench Process
Hi Guys,
The wizards who came up with this are happy for me to post about it.... Thanks and you know who you are!
So basically if you screw up your ECU with a flash and you can't recover normally (ie Exit Programming mode, or another reflash) then you will need to bench your ECU.
This requires removing it from the car and hooking up the following connectors:
Thanks RRE for this image:
ECU Pins:
71 -> GROUND
82 -> +12V
92 -> +12V
104 -> +12V
This is the car end, so the OBD end will be opposite, IE top right pin = #1
OBD Pins:
4 -> GROUND
5 -> GROUND
16 -> +12V
ECU to OBD Pins:
ECU 80 -> OBD 7
ECU 90 -> OBD 6
ECU 91 -> OBD 14
ECU 103 -> OBD 12
Once you hook all of those up you can then choose "Alternate flash method" in ECUFlash options.
Flash your stock ROM - this will take a long time...
Now deselect "Alternate flash method" in ECUFlash options.
Flash your stock ROM again - this will configure the ECU properly..
Stick the ECU back in the car - it should work properly!
For connectors I used Evo 9 pins togo to the ECU, and then just stripped wire with a heatshrink sheath for the OBD connector... Worked pretty well
As I have mentioned a couple of times, this is quite a tricky process, so if your near one of the guys that can do it for you (Colby/HB/Hamish/whoever I have missed) then just get them todo it
Cheers

Thanks tephra! I hope I will never need to do this Just one dumb question. After connecting the ECU to OBD pins, is that the only connection from OP2.0 cable to the ECU? Or do you also try to plug the cable in? I'm not even sure that's possible...
