Accessport wont connect to ECU
I was recently tuned by Sean Ivey via Cobb AP. There werent and havent been any issues with my AP since I bought it about 6 months ago. Sean has been sending me updated maps because my LTFT were acting up... when I went to try out the latest map, it wouldnt connect to the ECU. I tried connecting through Tune, Reset ECU, Live Data..... and I even tried to uninstall it, but it still wont connect. I just updated it with the latest firmware and its still no good. Got any suggestions?
BTW, it wasnt dropped or smashed in anyway and the cable to the obdII port seems just fine.

Can you connect to the computer etc? Is it only though the computer that you are unable to connect? Does the unit light up at all when you plug it into the car? What exactly is happening? Are you getting any error codes?

A ticket# has been generated and my AP has been sent out to Cobb. The tech support guy I spoke to thought it might be the dongle / obdII cable. Hopefully it will all be fixed up in a week or two.

You do have your key in the "On" position(second click clockwise from "Off"), but the car not running, right?
If they key is in the "Off" position (full counter-clockwise position) or "Asc" position, where you can listen to the radio, (first click clockwise from Off), the AP will NOT connect.

So I finally get my AP back from Cobb in Utah. It took almost a month, but whatever. Well I open it up, and this is what I see.
To say the least I wasnt happy with the way they repaired the OB2 connector on the bottom of the AP .... and I think you can see why. I dont see how a quality control guy, or even the technician that fixed it could let this leave there facility and be sent back to the customer. So not only does the repair look like crap, but one of the pins ended up breaking after about 10 minutes of using it. I was able to get one reflash completed before it crapped out again. You can see the bottom right pin is gone. This is probably due to the extra stress on the connector due to it being all twisted.
Im not looking to bash Cobb and say there products suck... because they dont. But Im just really disappointed with the way this supposive repair went. I did not cause any damage to the unit either this time, or the first time it stopped working. And the first issue was an internal connection issue..... now this. The one reflash I did is a revised map that Ivey had sent me due to my LTFT acting up. Now I cant even check any data to see if the knock is ok. Nor can I flash it back to the last revision which I know is safe. Ill be on the phone with Cobb first thing when they open.
Anyone else come across this or see anyone else's AP come back in that kind of condition?

So Sean, the car is running great with respects to AFR with the latest map you sent me (#5)..... 11.3-11.6 all the way up to 7200rpm. I just cant check knock for the obvious reason. So Im not really pushing it until I know things are ok. But def leaning it out a bit made the car feel better. Ill keep you posted on what goes on with this.

I have had issues connecting the AP occasionally after an update, on both mine and a friends car. After doing a re-install of the ATR software, the issue has gone away each time. I have only had this issue after doing an AP firmware update.
As for the messed up looking AP, ouch. I'd be pissed too. Looks like they converted it to v2, and the plug didn't fit or something. Wierd.

So I called Cobb about 4 times yesterday afternoon. Something was weird with their phones. All the automated messages were choppy and full of static. I called other numbers to verify it wasnt my cell phone. So I left a message and they didnt get back to me. Well see what happens today.

After finally getting through to Cobb, we were able to figure out that the screen is actually busted. It powers up through the USB port (checked this with AP manager) but not sure if it powers up through the OBD2 port because the screen wont come one.... so your unable to tell. As far as the pin missing... apparently thats how the new ones are coming from Cobb. Chris from Cobb explained that all the new ones dont come with that 10th pin. They must have removed it while doing the original repair. Needless to say, I have to send it back to them. At least their paying for shipping both ways this time. I just hope it wont take another month to get it back...... but for some reason I think it will.
