my ecu bit the dust
well im pretty sure my ecu is bricked. Today i was flashing the ecu over my brothers and got all the way threw it was resetting the ecu right before the little ok button pops up and my brother cranked the car over. Well after screaming at him for ten minutes i tried to start the car hoping it went threw and nothing happened. if i put the key on like im trying to flash the ecu the ecu just ticks like crazy the check engine lights on and i have the little hazard symbol on the dash. heres what i get when i try to flash the ecu. I'm ready to order a new ecu but was hoping somebody could help me before i spend crazy money on one...thanks

I think it might just be bricked. Is this a Lancer GTS, or an Evo? I'm assuming the procedure is the same.

Link goes to Evo X forums, about how to Bench flash an ECU. My tuner had to do it for my car.

Yeah you dont need to order a new ECU.
just a few readily available electronic parts.
alternativley you can send your ECU to tactrix for a fee.
OR find a tuner close to you with a bench kit already setup..
good luck, and since your a pioneer in the GTS - you might as well build your own bench kit - since this will probably happen quite often!

ecu
Thanks for the replies. I did find the topic on benching the ecu. I will try this today when i get home and post my results. I suppose the hardest thing now is locating the proper connectors to fit in the ecu and openport connector any ideas on what to use?
never mind found the connectors. well the hard parts is over i'll have this completed around 4:30pm and post my results!!!!!

ecuflash
Well i just got time to update my update. My car now starts but i have a keep alive memory code. I am unable to get into the ecu now without removing it and benching it everytime i want to flash it. If i try to flash the car normally its give me the same information as before only this time my fans are on all of the time until i actually start the car. Also if i blip the throttle real fast like a quick rev the car shuts down on me and i have to return the key to off and restart. any ideas i think i might take it in and have them replace the ecu since its under warranty still.
