Just got p1870 Service Required
Hey everyone, so I just threw p1870 in my 08 MR. Was wondering what might be the direct cause of this? I was on the highway in 6th doing roughly 75mph and dropped a gear (without letting my foot off the gas) to 5th when my RPM's jumped like crazy, and then I was greeted with a nice Service Soon on the display hud with the nice picture of the car loosing traction. Didn't throw any other codes other then p1870, as well as the ASC light came on. I was able to once I parked the car reset it and everything went back to normal. I just recently replaced my stock BPV (it was leaking like a *****) with an APS Twin Vent BOV which seems to be holding boost far better. Did I hit a TQ limit with the SST because of the new BOV holding more boost (not leaking like the stock) which caused the transmission to slip (slip for protection of the transmission?)?
Any insight would be great. Oh and Bryan (GST) any chance you might be able to fix this or tune this out? LMK.
Thanks!

According to this thread, you're experiencing an overboost issue at shift. There is some useful information there, worth a read.
