The watered-down tuning guide please..
I recently installed the mods in my sig, hoping they may alleviate how **** the factory tune is with the high rpm stutter. Unfortunately, its the same, if not more noticeable, so I've decided its time to tune my car. I just ordered a tactrix 2.0 w/ reflash cable from a member of this site after reading this is the best way to utilize ecuflash with our cars. I will hopefully be ordering a boost gauge, wideband, full tbe here shortly and after all of that, I want to street tune the car.
Can anyone give me a few starter tips? I understand how you open and read the files, I'm an IT guy so I can understand the .hex and .xml files and their importance. However, I am lacking in the knowledge of fuel and ignition tables haha. Are there base maps ever posted for certain mods? Kind of like the Cobb database, or should i just adjust the tables super rich, then lean out from there?
I guess I'm just kind of overwhelmed at how to begin with this. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE - 4/1/2011
Thought I would update this since it's helped me a lot and I'm sure there are others that were in the position I was. This thread has gotten to the point where there is quite a bit of reading even to find the links to download more reading so I thought I would put them in post One. Thanks again for doing this merlin!

search for "how to tune an evo" and start from there. the car in stock form is pig rich so you can start leaning from the stock map itself & ign timing tables are high and adjust them from there but of course there is alot more to that.
hook up the tools, cables, etc correctly & make sure you have your wb02 calibrated !
GL & Happy tuning just make small changes & take things 1 step at a time

Its still to big!
And I have not done the boost section yet.
I will have to go through it and re-do all the screen shots as png to get the final file size down to something manageable. The damm thing was over 10mb when I pdf'ed it a couple of nights ago.

If you want I'd be glad to host it.... or we can throw it on the stock tuning wiki. I'd much rather have detail if its under 50-100mb.
