I can say this because i have had both.. at first i had the AP. i didnt feell i was getting everything out of the motor with my mods. yes is is easy, down load map, plug and upload onto ecu. especially great if traveling and dont have access to 93 oct, you can change maps at the gas station to a lower oct map. AMS etune.... you have to get a few things and be willing to do things for it to work. you will need a tactrix cable, openflash ( both are on same web site). also need evoscan and laptop. the cable is $170, the evo scan is $25. the AMS eflas is $375.
with all that you need at the minimum will be cheaper than the AP. when you contact AMS, you'll be working with Mitch who is their Tuner. you will have to run some logs with the perameters he gives you. then email it to him, he in turn tweaks the map and sends it back... will take a few emails before your done.... yes it does take some time but worth it. mitch is awesome to work with. He explains why things are being changed so you better understand the concept of openecu tuning. the AP with off the shelf maps are maps on the general consensus of vehicles. or you can protune it with the ap to your specific vehicle.... etune is specific for your vehicle. no 2 vehicles run exactly the same with the same mods. good luck. if you lived closer, i'd show you how to run logs and such. maybe you can find someone to help you run logs.
