I swear I saw someone say that you can pop the TCU off a MR trans and put it on the RA to enable s-sport (maybe its flashable via CAN?) and add the switches but I could be wrong. I'm also not sure if the wiring is there and you would need the faculty in the center console for the switch.

Everything is there, you just need to swap the TCU.

Via ECU or TCU?

My question is, do the years have to match? In other words, can you take a TCU off a 2008 MR and use it on a 2011 RA? I know the easy answer is to go test it out but Evos aren't plentiful in the South.

Impressive.

Can't wait till you release more info on how you accomplished tuning out clutch slip via ECU. Tuning out the slip without increasing pressure is going to reinvent Sport usage for RA owners.

Thank you Bryan and Tephra, you guys have PROVEN what has been known about torque changing between the modes.

I am shocked how similar sport and normal are on torque though?

Good question. I don't think anybody knows yet.

Don't get too crazy yet. Pressure is pressure, and too much torque will overcome it. I speak from experience.

You didn't know people bought sports cars for the ultimate in luxury driving experience?

If I was running things at a car company I would either design the best sports car [by yelling at engineers all day] or wind up with something like "The Homer". Actually, the engineers probably know how to do it, its probably the other departments screwing them up.

It would be nice if someone could pull up the part #s for all of the SST trans across the MR and RA for different years. I assume the ROM is different, but if we know that they haven't changed a solenoid size or something mechanical then that would cover the first step to being able to mix 'n match.

The actual SST Trans between MR and RA are geared different. 5th and 6th are geared lower in the RA then the MR.

The rumor is that the TCU is the same part number, but different ROM. I say rumor because I haven't verified this with my own eyes.

I can assume the TCU ROM is also different in the model years as the difference between transmission operation between 2008 and 2010 is night and day.

Bryan, I have a bone stock 08 MR. What are the differences between this and later models. Since the Mitsi part of my 3 year warranty expires in late December... would this be among reasons for trade-up considerations?

Bumping this to post more data.

I *REALLY* need S-Sport on my RA.

Huge difference in clutch pressure from SPORT to S-SPORT:

Even after some tweaks, the differences are still huge:

At least your tweaks are getting that clutch slip speed under control

In the "before post" it looks like the TCU responds to the start of clutch slippage by an increase in pressure. If I'm reading this correctly (the last 2 graphs in "before"):
For Sport mode the pressure stays flat at ~140, and so when Max Torque comes on we see a corresponding slippage.
For S-Sport mode the pressure comes up to ~180, then when Max Torque comes on we see the pressure jump to 220, thereby preventing slippage.

Yes???
