MAF can be replaced with a resistor
About 6 months ago I destroyed my 4th MAF sensor ($749 NZD here :-( ) so in a fit of desperation I wired a 5k resistor in its place so the ecu sees 4.5 volts from MAF and maxed out the MAF tables , gave it a SD tune . It has been running faultlessly ever since. I wanted to make sure before saying anything.
step 1,
put a 5k resistor between the power feed to the MAF sensor and the output from the maf back to the ecu I put mine in the lead to the MAF and then cut the 2 wires to the maf as not to back feed the MAF (mine was all ready stuffed ). Ended up being 4.5 volts back to ECU.
Step 2, As a back up set all the MAF scaling tables to max value .
Step 3 , SD tune.
I will look up the pin numbers on the connector to the maf and edit this post tomorrow .
P.S I left the Temp diode in place and my MAF is still in place for the moment but there is no reason why you can not bin the MAF and just insert the diode in the inlet air flow.
Enjoy
