Tune for 87 octane

Has anyone tuned for 87 octane? What kind of power levels and boost?

Anyone who has done it did it in a emergency capacity...definitely not trying to make power with it. 91 octane or higher as stated in the owners manual...its not in there just for fun.

In an emergency where you're required to use 87-octane touch your gas pedal with nothing heavier than a feather and get yourself to 91+ ASAP. You're in Texas though, 93 is readily available so pony up the extra $4/tank and enjoy the car how it was meant to be driven!

I personally have my Accessport setup with a 93/91 map-switching tune for when I do leave the state on roadtrips.

Like others have said for emergency cruising it's doable but at anything above 100 load at boost you will want to adjust your timing, AFR, and boost downward. I guess it would be interesting to see how much lower you would have to take the tune to be stable but I'm not going to find out on my own car!

I wouldn't recommend it, just pay the extra money and use 91/93. Like the above poster said i would love to see what kind of numbers too but i wouldn't do it in my car either!

Tune an EVO for a regular octane?

It would be interesting to see, but I dunno if many people would guinea-pig their EVO for that adventure.

I remember a guy did it here in Cali. Low boost of course but then he had second map for E85.

I can't think of any reason why anyone would want to do that, except for emergencies (like running out of gas on a road trip and not being able to find a required octane... or just running out of gas money...)
