I have heard that the new turbo is smaller then previous Evo's but if you watch this video the tech states that it is larger, can someone clear this up for me?

From what's been told the turbine side is larger (12T vs. 10.5T) but the compressor is smaller (the component that draws in the air and compresses it).

They think the turbo is bigger because it boosts more.

They also say the new EVO has two cooling fans unlike the previous EVO's. That is untrue all EVOS have two cooling fans. Also they have the fans run for a little bit after you cut the car off if it is hot to help cool it down. My question is how is that effective if the coolant is not flowing through the engine??

Scotty the second fan on the 8's was on the front, on the right, in front of the ac condenser/rad.

coolant will be goin thru until the turbo stops spinning. oil/water cooled.... subaru's are the same way. it's why we don't need a turbo timer and i laugh and point at guys who have them

I wouldn't be laughing at all at them, yes it might be true what you say, BUT the manual even says to leave the car running a few before shutting it off so you dont "toast" your turbo from overheating.
so a turbo timer is not so bad really.
I dont have one i just make a habit to not run hard before I park, and i leat it run 1 minute before shutoff

Turbo timers on our cars are a waste. As long as you don't boost into your garage/parking space it's fine. You can shut the car off immediately. Not boosting while driving to park=timing your turbo.

The turbine is still a TD05 housing but the hotside is larger (12.0 vs. 10.5), however the compressor wheel (IIRC) is around the size of the TME turbo, which was a 15GK2.
