Umm, I don't know where you got that info from, but the genesis will NOT be using the 4b11, nor was it ever slated to. The new genesis will have 3 engine options: a 3.3 liter V6, a 3.8 liter V6, and a 4.6 liter "TAU" V8. So, yeah...

I think he is referring to the gensis coupe.

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/19/n...is-coupe-live/

...Both models were present – the 310-hp, 3.8-liter V6 and the 223-hp (217 on swill-fuel) turbocharged 2.0-liter four. While there was a lot of talk about giving the people what they've yearned for, there was no word on price. We're guessing that the V6 will be somewhere around $25,000, while the turbo'd 2.0-liter will just crest the $20k mark.
And it is assumed Hyundai will be using the world engine they co-developed with Mitsubishi and Chrysler. I would think the engine in the gensis coupe to be very similar to the one in ralliart.

Um, not sure where you got THAT info from. Everything I've read says two engine options: 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo with ~200hp (4b11), and the 3.8L V6 ~300hp.

The motor will probably be very similar to the one coming in the Ralliart.

Actually, you're wrong. You must have typed "Genesis" instead of "Genesis Coupe" when you searched to get that info. The Genesis Coupe you highlighted in bold type is getting the 4b11. There are several pics of it with that engine available.

::edit:: Wow. I type slow. You guys got it right.

Probably more along the lines of the Ralliart motor.

Compression ratio of Turbo 4: 9.3:1
peak hp and tq are 6000rpms and 4700rpms respectively
engine is square: 86mm bore x 86mm stroke

apparently these are the spec for the I4

Well, I didn't realize that hyundai was making a coupe version of the genesis, so I guess I was wrong. Either way, it will still be a different motor, as it will share the basic block with the 4b11 but the internals and heads are unique to the mitsu. The uniqueness of the EVO's motor has been stated many times in the early info about the 4b11 and global "sharing" of the block. The block is only a small part of what makes the whole motor what it is, remember that. The genesis should be an interesting car, though. It's definitely no EVO, but then again it's not trying to be.

I'll be going to a Genesis training class next month and will talk to some of the overseas instructors. I may be able to get my hands on the training manual(s) and possibly a few pic of the engine if they have one on site. I know from EVO X training that the 4b11 in the X has 90% of its parts redesigned. Mitsu, Hyundai, & Chrysler are all "in bed" together with the world engine. I wouldn't be surprised if Hyundai bought technical info from Mitsu. Remember the precis / excel

Little info on this. The 4b11t in the genesis coupe will not be an Evo motor. It be almost directly related to the regular lancer 4b11 with a turbo system added. So not nearly as strong

thats a shame! its seem stupid to try and engineer the NA motor to take a turbo when there is already a great turbo engine avaliable!

still might mean you could drop the internals form the 4B11T engine into the other motor and get basically the same engine???

Chris.
