I recieved it on the sat that week.

However, won't be installing it for another few weeks. (I need a dremel for the install and I live in a APT - waiting for friend to get back in town)

Initial impression is good so far. (I wish, they threw in some lithium grease for the shifter assembly.)

I will do a full review and install write up, when I install it.

Thank you.

honestly, i love it. the shift knob is in a much more comfortable position and the throws are much shorter. when the shifter is in 5th gear it is straight up in the center instead of off at a weird angle.

From a scale of 1-5 what would you rate it for difficulty? 1 being easiest.

well i'm pretty new to modifying and installing stuff myself. with the right tools this is a very easy install, maybe like a 2.5 or so. without a dremel was a little harder and took some creativity and patience on my part.

does it take a noticeable amount of increased "umf" to run through the gears?

to be honest, it doesn't feel any stiffer or require more "umph" per shift. the shifts feel a lot smoother and don't have that gritty feeling when shifting.

I am waiting on this to arrive in the mail as we speak and will post a review of my impressions as well. One thing I am curious about is that when you say it's straight in the middle when in 5th instead of off to the upper right, that sounds wierd to me. Does it look like it's in 3rd when it's really in 5th, and 3rd when it's really in 1st? This is the one thing that really concerns me. I like the idea of the knob being relocated a hair to the left for more comfortable shifting, but not TOO much. I guess I'll just have to see how it is when I install it and see how it feels. I'm sure it feels good, but just sounds wierd to me right now.

yes, all the gears are shifted a little left to be closer to the driver. i don't think it should take anyone long to get used to it though.

if you are sitting still and put it in all the gears, you may not be able to tell 3rd from 5th right away, but when you are driving that shouldn't be a problem plus you will get used to it quickly

Well, the spacing should be totally proportional to the stock setup, just further over to the left. It's not like 1st is in the same spot but 3rd and 5th are closer together, that wouldn't make any sense. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it is, but I'm guessing that it will be to my liking.

man! now I'm gonna have to get this, plus a ARC knob and some sort of leather shift boot... I can't imagine spending $400 ($150 - short shifter, $150 - shift knob, $100 - shift boot) on just my shifter! Oy vay

I am a bit new to the EVO. Why would you need a dremmel tool to install?

Also, with this installed, the notchiness from 1st to 2nd, and 2nd to 3rd is reduced?

there are two metal washer/clamp things that are easiest removed with a dremel. the works kit includes two new ones to replace them. i was able to pry them off but it took a long time. and it does make each shift feel smoother i think. and i was just using 3rd/5th as an example. all the gears "appear" to be shifted left slightly.
