Dynoed - Greddy Catback, HKS Drop In, and EVC 6 !!

I just installed my Greddy TiC Catback I got from Marty at www.Injectedperformance.com . Already had the HKS EVC 6, an the HKS Drop In Filter I got last week from Marty also. Love the catback !!! It sounds like an Evo should now.

Took the car to the local Mustang Dyno (calibrated to read like Dynojet). I was running straight 93 octane, and had the boost set to 22.5 psi. It would spike to around 23 psi and then hold 22 then gradually fall of to 17.9 psi by the top end. I dont have the RPM wire hooked up so I can fix the taper problem YET !!! I wish someone would find a good RPM pick up and make a post about it. Anyhow.

I was expected about 280 to 290 whp and roughly the same torque. After the first pull they told me the numbers and I thought they were lying..

See the graphs and numbers below. Curve looks like crap, it needs a tune bad.

345 whp, and 326 ft lbs.

The tune needs alot of work from 5100 to 6500 RPM. It that was fixed the curve wouldnt be bad. If I can get the EVC 6 hooked up to an RPM signal and get the taper fixed to hold 21 psi at 7000 RPM, with a ECU tune, I think 400 whp might be possible on this dyno. BTW, it was 90 degrees in the shop today, and the number are uncorrected for temp.

On the way back, we did an acceleration comparison. Other car a 2003 Evo with Evo 9 turbo, 272 cams, TBE, FMIC, hardpiping, intake, MBC, and running 24 psi with a tune. He made 390 whp on the dyno. He gave me the hit, and I pulled out, then he finally caught me and pulled just by me at the top of the gear. Acceleration simulation done in 4th gear.

Wow great numbers. I wasn't expecting these numbers just based off other dynos.

do you have a baseline dyno run?

and what exactly does "calibrated to read like dynojet" mean? maybe there's your answer. played around with the calibrations to get an artificially higher number? that's why i don't like mustang dynos...

Unfortunately I dont.

The dyno used to read very very low, just like Buschurs. The guy didnt get any business because of that, people thought the dyno was off. So, the guy had the factory technician at Mustang Dyno come and calibrate it to read comparable to a Dynojet. This was done about 4 or 5 years ago.

We have had cars dyno on a dynojet and exact same setup make equivalent numbers on this dyno. We had a car running E85 with FP Green and all supporting mods, 1000 cc RC Engineering injectors, and Bushur Dual pump setup, with injectors maxed out making 470 whp.

The other pulls were 332 whp, and 317 ft lbs. and run three was 341 whp and I dont remember the torque. All 3 curves similiar.

Those are some insane dyno numbers. They aren't from the cat back obviously. Either the HKS EVC 6 is a god or the dyno is reading to high. Most people get those numbers on here with a few bolt ons + tune.

They indeed are insane. The filter picked the car up, I could feel that. The EVC picked the car up too. I could tell a difference in all 3 pieces when installed individually, I just didnt expect the sum of the increases to be that good. I was totally shocked.

The EVC 6 is great, but its not setup to be great right now. Its acting now just like any other MBC or EBC. As soon as I have a RPM signal hookup the boost curve will be modified to be almost no taper at all. I just need to find what wire to hook up to to get the RPM signal.

I can't wait for my Evo X to get in!! Great numbers, hopefully the calibrations on the Dyno did not make them off by too much.

love9sick, i'm just curious how much power are you making with your bolt-ons?

I have no idea. I will get it dynoed. On Buschurs dyno my identical set up produces about 240whp..they have a tough dyno though. I don't know how the hell this guys gets those numbers and I don't believe them. Black track got 335whp with more bolt ons and a AMS tune...and they do great tuning. 345whp? this dyno is waaaay off or something.
