Fairly different I'd say. Most of the intakes on the market now are simply open cone filters, which do breathe a lot better than stock and open up the mid-range and top-end of the power band much better. However, lose a bit of low and mid range torque and response. The Colt Speed / Gruppe M intake is fully enclosed in the airbox which gives it better torque and response, but still uses a cone type filter for better flow. The big thing is the rad cover, which has a funnel to direct outside airflow directly into airbox and filter. So the air the filter is getting is outside air, a lot cooler and has velocity for a semi ram air effect. A normal cone filter is getting the hotter engine bay air.
