SES light. How to check for codes?

Hi all,

This past week, I installed the Harman Motive Turbo-back and I am very pleased with the sound and fit. Excellent exahsut for all you owners still looking to purchase 1.
However, tonight, after 5 days of having it on, the Service Engine Soon light came on. I suspect it's nothing serious and it's just the CAT code because Im running a high flow cat.
On my previous car, an SRT-4, I was able to check what codes exactly the light was throwing and thus know what I was up against. Does the EVO X have a similar way of checking for codes and what's wrong without the use of a .. what's it called... eh.. well the little computer that .. checks for codes?

I did use a non-fouler, but it seems to not be working as intended. Besides disconnecting the battery, any suggestions?

Thanks for the help!

you need an obd2 scan tool to check the codes, not sure if you local autoparts store will loan you one. but grab the code and look it up online.

Im having a code throw randomly at the drag strip during launch that limits me to 15psi and have to unplug the battery to reset it after the run. Anyone know of a decent portable scanner that will work with the X for under $500?

the EvoX is CAN so an older scanner won't work.

I use this scanner: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=94169 that I got on sale for $40. Works like a charm.

Or go to autozone and have them pull it (free). For the OP you likely will need to do the antifouler fix. I did it last week. No codes since.

the code that you are most likely getting is the p1235 over boost because of the high flow cat. you can eliminate this in a tune. I had the same problem. Just have to check the duty cycle of the boost solenoid

um... over boost isn't caused by a HFC.

I'd bet P0420 which is caused by the HFC.

OP it will come and go as the day/mornings get cooler you'll see it more (since cats aren't efficient until they warm up).

My OBD2 from Walmart works for getting my codes. I don't know if Canadian models differ in this regard or not.
