Whining Noise??

I was driving today on the highway and decided to open it up a little but when i got to around 4500 rpms i got this really obnoxious, and quite alarming whining noise. Any idea of what it could be?

Check for shaft play in your turbo. When they start to go bad the sound of the compressor blades rubbing the housing is similar to a hairdryer on crack. You could also have a boost leak some where.

I have heard the whining on my X also. When i got the reflash I told the dealer and they checked for abnormal noise. They said there was no abnormal noise at this time but i got it documented on paper for next time.(when something does go wrong )

Is it the whistling noise coming from your UICP. After I installed the Nisei UICP there is a whistling type noise coming from the UICP under boost.

I thinks it's more like the transfer case. It's not Turbo noise or road noise...

Diff noise?

I've been getting an occasional whining noise as well on my 09 RA with the SST. sounds like gear noise to me, like the front diff or transfercase gearing. mostly on deceleration and only once in a while. and nor really driving that fast. anyone else?
