What oil to use on an X
It’s time for another change and I would like to try a different oil in my car. I’m seriously considering the Enos oil. I can’t decide which one would be better for the car (0W 50 or 5W 40). I need an oil that will keep my engine running for years to come as well, not just one that will give me 5 horses and decrease the life of my engine.
What oil would you recommend?
(If you said Enos) What kind, 0W 50 or 5W 40?
P.S. I live in Utah so it gets really cold over here during the winter, if that makes a difference.
Thanks

i went to SEMA, and got one of their brochures. in the 0w-50 section, it states, "Motors with force-induction will benefit greatly from this low viscosity, ultra=wide range motor oil". Im getting my oil tomorrow! Mostly likely will be doing an oil change too. Talk to Eric from Driveline Sales!!

I saw the video with the Eneos 0w50 and it looked impressive. I have tried Royal Purple and Mobil 1. So in about 3600 miles I am going to change to Eneo 0w50 it seems to be a top notch oil and I believe this is the same oil they run in alot of F1 cars or something like that. Plus if you check the vendor section you can get a case for pretty cheap.

These kinds of statements are always thrown around, and my only response is this:
Millions of dollars in research are/were spent on development of Mobil 1.
Very complex and expensive engines come from the factory using Mobil 1, and i can assure you what kind of oil they put in those engines isnt taken lightly.
Sure, you can use any oil you choose, but ill take the one that comes from the factory with the approval of the people who built and designed the engines decided it needed.

But if they spent so much time and effort t into designing the engines and deciding what was the best way to go, why are modifying our Evos so much?
I just know there’s always ways to improve on something that’s great from the beginning and that’s what I’m trying to accomplish.

Amsoil Race Dominator is what we use in our Evo 9, we recently changed from Mobil 1
reason being is if you research the dominator yes you will find is not ISLAC API certified,,, but believe me buddy its for a reason is purely off road oriented, loaded with Zinc and phosphorus, its ideal for high reving cars.
here is a something:
MAXIMUM DURABILITY, MAXIMUM WEAR PROTECTION
AMSOIL Dominator Synthetic Racing Oil features an additive package heavily fortified with zinc and phosphorus for superior long-term wear protection. Designed for maximum durability, it ensures critical engine components are protected for the duration of the race. Dominator Synthetic Racing Oil’s superior additive technology provides unmatched durability in extreme conditions. In addition, its high levels of zinc and phosphorus additives make it ideal for street rods, muscle cars and other vehicles with flat-tappet cams

The only reason I will never run Eneos is because they try and doop you over in their youtube video. They stick some generic 20w50 oil in an evo X and then switch to the Eneos stuff and gain like 6whp or some low number like that. First of all, evo X's don't use 20w50. The power loss from such think oil is the damn 6whp they gained. Also, synthetic vs dino oil in a horsepower test, synthetic will win. However, many engine builders, both local to me and on the forums, have told me that the cleanest motors they have ever torn down have used Mobil 1. Plus, I'll take peice of mind that my engine's internals are protected vs the whopping 6whp i'll gain from a no name oil company.
