You can run a cat-back exhaust without a tune, it's when you put a test-pipe or downpipe on the set up that you need a tune. But if you decided to mod the exhaust and tune, please don't use the maps on the accessport. Buy a tactrix cable and EcuFlash and get protune, costs total the same but a pro-tune is much much more reliable.

Cat-back w/o tune - safe
anything else on the car w/o tune - not safe

... by more reliable, Evo>ps4? means that it is tailored for your car / environment specifically. +1 on being ok without a tune with just a catback. You should technically be ok with an intake as well, but I recommend looking into a tune at that point.

So if I am running a complete exhaust, not just cat back, I need a tune? I am putting a complete Perrin system, including Perrin hi flow cat, on my otherwise stock car. Do I need a tune?

... and might as well do the other bolt-ons while you're at it . No sense in paying for a tune twice

That's the only mod I am making for the foreseeable future....I thought I could just bolt on and go...would it be that horrible if I don't get a tune?

Yes, if you're changing the cat, you'll need a tune. It will most likely throw a code for the o2 sensor reading high since you're changing the cat cell count.

So much this lol

Just throw an intake and upper intercooler pipe (UICP)
The intake will add a little power and give you the spooling/BOV sound and the UICP will add some throttle response.

A 3-port boost controller is highly recommended if you get a tune since it gives the tuner much better control over the boost pressure and will give you lots of power.

After all that I'd call it good, almost a full bolt-on setup.

Is the Greddy Spectrum Elite still available or has it all transitioned to the SP Elite? I specifically want anodized titanium tips but all the youtube clips with Spectrum Elites are over 6 years old and I only see SP Elite on Greddy's website.

What is the consensus now on best stainless dual exhaust with anodized titanium tips? I have a large budget to work with, but even I don't want to dump 3k into a full Ti exhaust. I loved the way the Ultimate Racing dual with Ti tips sounds - is that a good way to go?

Best exhaust is Akrapovic with carbon fiber tips imo . If I had $3k for an exhaust, i'd buy one.

I really like the HKS Super Turbo exhaust, don't think the tips are ti, but they are burnt blue and a huge 5".

Final Edition with Super Turbo:

** On second look on a few sites, they may be ti tips

MXP is another good choice from what I've read. Mackin industries produces the MXP products.

Since I didn't see them on here yet, here are the Custom Performance Engineering dual exit cat-back, and the STM single exit stainless exhaust.

The single exit was a cold start and I didnt want to rev it out without being warmed up.

No good videos, but here is my exhaust. It has an AMS widemouth downpipe, a 3" Magnaflow cat-back, and to connect them together a custom catless 3" test pipe. I went with custom (made by a friend) because I wanted a full 3" system, and the Magnaflow necks down to 2.5" to bolt up to the cat. So that section was cut off and welded straight to the test pipe, for a full 3" off the turbo to the back.

I will write a full review on this eventually once I have a good video but I really like it. The muffler does an excellent job at keeping it quiet at idle, really pleasant cruising and highway (no drone) but sound extremely nice at WOT. Fits nice, and looks factory to the untrained eye.

Anyone has any feedback on Tanabe touring exhaust? It's 2.75in ID. But I feel that for daily driving and moderate upgrades it should be sufficient.

Will the ETS Quiet Exhaust have a negative effect on other mods like , test pipe, intake, tune, etc. Silent factor appeals to me only if it wouldn't effect gains from money spent on other mods. I am assuming it will but figured would be worth to ask
