Thanks for info, very helpful. So, 22630A is the diff only or is it the whole thing - no assembly required?
Also the damaged piece of casing is the one on the attached chart, or is it a different part?

The 22630a is just the pumpkin, the part number points to it. It has spyder gears and everything in it. The housing Im not sure what number it is from the pic or what comes with it.

So, if you are replacing just the diff, what are you going to do with all those metal sahvings? I have them all over my tranny. To clean them up completely, I guess, you need to disassemble the whole thing and clean every part thoroughly. Or am I missing something?

Yes mate, complete strip and clean in petrol or alike...

I have new bearins going in aswell, due to scoring on the bearing faces..

Still worked out cheaper than £5500+ v.a.t. (@15%).......

Thanks for the pictures aswell.

New tranny from the States is around $2800 plus shipping and tax. So, you might want to check this out.
Damn! Why everything is so much cheaper in US? I was quoted by the dealer $2200 just for the diff!

cause the more you sell the costs of production are smaller and since the USA is a huge market thats why they have good prices

This may be true for other cars. But coincidentally Russia is the largest market for 2008 Mitsu Lancers (evos are late start and devaluation shortly after - with USD60K+ price tag bad sales and lots of alternatives). This doesn't affect neither the cost of cars, nor cost of parts. Go figure...

Still, i bet if you go find numbers the US is the number 1 buyer for evos.
