Man this blows *pics*

Went to the dealer this morning to check on the progess of my X. I walked in their garage and saw that the mechanic did make some good progress. Had the tranny off the car. But the bad news, is that the main bearing seal is on backorder. I have a track day on the 30th,and its already pre-paid to. Here are some pics I took

picture of the main seal +cover plate

btw, my clutch and the bell housing was saturated with engine oil..

So the dealer didn't inform you that they didn't have all the parts to do the swap? Which dealership did you go to? Are they putting on a clutch you purchased or another stock clutch(which I doubt)?

The seal was suppose to come in today. But got delayed until monday, or tuesday. when I got there this morning, the service manager told me on the spot. I even called Mitsubishi Parts .net, and they did not even have it. They told me it would take them a full week.

Hopefully they gave you a loaner car at least? (Maybe you should enter the loaner for the race... )

This $hit sucks. I just got the new brakes + lines put on. And dying to try them out at Laguna. Not to mention the new clutch and Work's light flywheel to..

I didn't see your original post about this...but what were the symptoms, a simple oil leak?

Good luck. Nothin worse than having a new car torn down in the shop.

First I noticed the oil leak. Then right away the clutch started to slip. I thought the oil leak was coming from the timing chain cover in the beginning, and had nothing to do with the clutch slipping..

Sorry to hear about your mishap WM. I've noticed how anxious you were to take the Evo X out and tear up Laguna Seca. I'm sure you'll get a chance to do it again for sure.

I wonder if I should order a main seal before doing the clutch just in case? How much was the seal?

That would be wise. Because that seal is only $40 bucks..

since it was a premature seal breaking, will they cover a new clutch for you? under warranty since the oil leak obviously caused the premature wear of the clutch? ^ like the other post said, bring the loaner to the track
