Yeah, I know that AMS's downpipe says it gets 15 hp... but damn, that thing is 495.00!! I wonder how much other companies dp's get in hp vs. the price.

We do have some customers still running the stock catback with our test pipe and O2/DP and they make nice power ; but for overall best results getting a good cat back will be best . Our downpipe has shown about an 18hp to 20 hp gain and about a 30Tq gain .. not bad for $400 shipped within the US

is that with the rest of the exhaust still stock? What does your TBE net as far as hp with the test pipe? How much shipped?

One of the guys DYNO'ed here locally and was at 342hp if I'm correct and thats with a completely stock catback . The car had our O2/DP and testpipe . From what we've seen up-to about 350hp most of your gains will come from the O2/dp and test , around and beyond that the stock muffler will not flow that much . The O2/Dp are $400 shipped and the testpipe is $195 shipped .

Guys it sounds like he wants to keep the cat. You can get a high-flow cat pipe for around $300. High-flow cats have a metal substrate cat and the density is measured in terms of cell count, I think per inch. The lower the cell count the better the flow.

On my WRX I had Helix downpipe with a 200 cell count cat and it passed the emissions sniffer in California.

High-flow 200-cell count cat pipes for the EVO X are made by CP-E ($300), Ultimate Racing ($300), and T1-R ($357). The AMS unit ($339) has a 300 cell count. Not sure about the Cobb unit.

Let me know if you know of a high-flow cat pipe that's cheaper. I'm shopping for one

I tested 12whp on Dyno Dynamics from removing the stock cat on an otherwise TBE car. The exhaust smell and sound both increase substantially with a test pipe.

I wonder what sort of gains I would get with those plus going to stage 2 on the AP?

most (if not all) turbo-back exhaust kits usually comprise of a 3" pipe. if you're using the stock cat, you're restricting your 3" full pipe into a 2.5" section. not only that, because your transition will not be smooth, you'll also get turbulence within the exhaust, and it will not be an optimal flowing exhaust.

by all means you can keep it, but you won't be making full potential of your mods.
