How do you fix the rough changing into second gear
I'm sure I'm not the only one having this issue, but going into second gear sometimes is a bit rough. Shifting into every other gear is a clean shift, but second seems to be rough. Would changing the bushings fix this problem?

I had this problem just like everyone else but once I started to put some miles on the car its almost non-existant. I currently have 78XX miles on it and the shifts into second gear are smooth even when the vehicle is cold. You can wait it out and put miles on the transmission, install a short shifter (not sure if this will help), or change the transmission fluid (not sure if this will help either). I'm simply throwing out a few suggestions for you.

I agree. Getting into second on a cold morning was really tough when I first got my Evo, in time it got better.
I have added aftermarket shifting parts too, and every new part I've added has made the shifting that much better. So far I've got the TWM short shifter, weighted shift ball, and consol bushings. Next up are the Works underhood bushings. IMO the stock shift ball is too light, going with a weighted shift ball (1.07 lb) made a world of difference.

Bad design...I have almost 7k miles now and Mine is plateaued and it just sucks to drive normally. Bring it to the racetrack though - it should shine from what Mitsu Corporate tells me (dumbasses.).

Have you guys tried some GM Synchromesh Friction Modified? I've used it in lots of other cars and it always does the trick. Or are you guys sticking to the Mitsubishi recommended stuff?
GM Synchromesh Friction Modified (GM #12377916, ACDelco #10-4014)
Amsoil also makes a manual transmission fluid with the same stuff in it. People have said that works very well also.

Mine was pretty notchy going into second and into third, but like most people it got better after putting some clicks on it. I got about 7700 Km (close to 4800 miles) it has gotten better. I also noticed shifting at around 4000 rpm is probably the smoothest in getting it into second and third gear.
