i say its ok. but for dd the 40 is kinda heavy, unless you are constantly running over 90 Fahrenheit climate

i'm using for race 40 or 50 oil. depends on the weather condition .
so if you are really want to run 0W then i would use the 0W-30.

40 is fine. I can only find the German Castrol in 0w30 so that's what I run and it's what I prefer. I just don't think you need 40.

For what its worth, I have been using Mobil 1 0-40 (4-6years) since is came out in my mirage turbo. Motor runs great, turbo spins like a bb (e316g) and have never have any sort of problem. Also noticed that my lifter tick until went down from 2 or 3 min. down to less than 30seconds. So it pumps through the motor sooner. I also believe that the Mobil 1 0-40 is recommended for the porsche turbos and Mercedes supercharged cars if I remember correctly.

I think this is how it goes.

so the 0w-30 or 5w -30 is actually the same weight oil.
Robevo

you are on the right path, 0W30, 5W30, and 10W30 are all the same oils,, the are all a 30 oil, if you are in a colder weather run 0W30, if you are in a mild weather run 5W, hot weather run 10W

also the oils have to do with the type of engines, on how tight the tolerances of the internal parts the tighter the tolerances the lighter the oil you want to use,, because you want the oil at cold start up to start thin,, and when it heats up it will transform into that 30

you see there is still alot of confusion in oil's, most consumers say agrr the heck with it, an oil is an oil,,, i tell you what no is not, you need the right oil for you application because if you dont, you wont see that consecuences now but they show dow the road if you dont fix it.

let me know if i answered you

You guys need to remember the evo x runs a chain vs a belt and has direct action valvetrain. There are no hydraulic lifters to smooth out the process. Its a given that the engine will be noisy.

in that case true, the chain is noisier.

its about keeping people from running higher vscocity oil's than needed, on an evoX there should be no need to run a 40 or a 50 you will do more harm than good.

unless you built the engine and oppenned up the tolerances

Post nummber 20 pretty much sums it up. Stick with the 0,5,10 30 depending on your climate. No reason to really change to a 40 or 50.

The engine is noisy in general.
