Opinions needed for a blown Evo X Turbo
#17
Thanks a lot! I actually sold the Evo X already cos i had to come over here for work.
At that time when the turbo blew up on me in Aug08, the only avaliable option was the Artisan SA-50. I had it shipped and was doing close to 390whp ECUtek at around sea level and constant 90-95 degrees at 1.6bar of boost.

Sorry to hear about your news. I have an evo x turbo for sale off of our evo x. Used with only 5,000 miles. Perfect condition and will ship it out to you for $350.00.
Imo, I would upgrade to a blouch 2.0 unit. We have some good deals going on those right now too!
If you have any questions, shoot me a call tomorrow!

It does seem like the exhasut fin broke off into a million pieces and went all the way throu. I found bits and pieces of it in my kakimoto catback exhaust!
The bigger question is what caused the destruction. It does sound like you cracked a piston ring land and it went through the turbo. Turbos don't self disintegrate.
I would inspect your cylinders with a video borescope.
You should also look for a post by username junction which sounds like the same symptoms of many.

The Ti units have a high failure rate and we have seen 5 or so where the exhuast wheel just fell off!!
The inconel unit is a stronger unit and makes good power .
if you go to ralliart and download the GRP-N papers you can see there is 5 units off different specifications avaliable .
