Using the stock pressure plate w/ aftermarket clutch disk possible?
Been reading, the stock plastic master cylinders don't seem to like Stronger pressure plates.. Not looking for big power, just minor bolt on but won't melt like the stocker.
Is it possible to use the stock pressure plate w/ a better clutch disc? For example, the stock pressure plate w/ carbon-kevlar clutch disc (eq. Spec Stage 2 or Stage 2+ clutch disc)?

You know you are gonna get alot of flak for this, but your idea is sound. This was done in DSM days and surely can be done with EVO's
You would have to talk to your clutch disc provider because some PP are modified for their disc's...
That being said, I bet a stock PP would work fine with a Feramic Disc from Southbend or a Kevlar disc from clutchmasters.
The only drawback is having to take the tranny back out if it doesn't work out for you, assuming you'll do the work yourself....if your paying for labor...you'll lose to much money..MAYBE

Hopefully, somebody will try this..
Stronger pressure plate on the X == broken master cylinder. But stock organic clutch disc == crap. I do know on the Evo 9, the CCI clutch discs can be used with the Exedy Pressure Plate (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...es-home-4.html) - Kracka used an exedy pressure plate with his CCI clutch discs because CCI had a machining problem w/ the pressure plate (small batch had this problem).

When the clutch finally lets go on the wife's X, will do so..
I'll talk to Clutchmasters (hop and skip away from me, they are in Rialto, CA) and see if their KV clutch disc from the FX200 kit will work with the stock pressure plate.
