Tell that to the Mitsubishi rep looking for an excuse to void the warranty on your tranny after it breaks.

That is no problem.. BY LAW, they must Prove the fault if they are denying warranty. It is not up to you to prove what didn't.

I have crossed this a few times over the years.

They use scare tactics such as saying it will void the warranty to keep you buying their overpriced fluids.

Transfer Case Oil

So what I gather is that as long as the gear oil for the transfer case is rated at GL-5, it should be acceptable for use? The oil weight containing or limited to 90W is also a factor, of course. This would place several oils in the acceptable category for use.

Redline, Valvoline Synthetic, AMSoil, Mobil1, Royal Purple

(reasonably new to the import side of vehicle performance )

Any GL5 rated 90w oil will work in the TC, as long as it is rated for limited slip use to allow the clutch pack engagement to properly occur. I suggest synthetic oils as the diff and TC capacities are abysmal so a high quality synthetic would be beneficial.

I use Mobil 1 Gear LS 75w90 in my TC and diff. Its great stuff and not expensive!
