Oil Analysis - Who is doing it here?

I think you are missing part of the point when oil changes run $75 with Mobil1. So if it saves me money by not having to change my oil every 3000 miles, then I am all for it.
Or does everyone just go to JiffyLube for their oil changes? I am going to the dealer and its killing me to pay that much for Mobil1.

Changed my oil out for the third time yesterday, car runs completely different. IDK what it was but for some reason my car feels like it should... while 2 days ago it didnt. It could be in my head but I def think I notice a difference...

Actually, every time I change my oil (in the evo and my old car), the car feels smoother and just better overall for the first few days. Nothing wrong with the old one - I change it every 2k miles or 3 months. It's weird but I can notice a difference too.

It's really a combination of things. Some oils do provide better wear protection than others. So, oil does matter. But it's more about the interval and ensuring you're changing your oil before it starts to break down.
Also, if you value your warranty, you have to follow the recommended oil change intervals listed in the owners manual. Regardless of what an oil analysis might tell you, if you don't follow the change intervals, Mitsu could deny warranty coverage of any engine part because you didn't follow the intervals.
To me, it's pretty simple.
- Change your oil within the recommended intervals.
- Choose whatever fully synthetic oil that makes you feel good and meets all of Mitsu's requirements.
- If you choose to do oil analysis, knock your socks off. It may show you that the oil you're using isn't protecting as well as another brand of oil. Or it may show that you need to change more often than the recommended intervals. But, don't go beyond the recommended intervals even if the oil analysis says you could. You'll lose your warranty if you do.

You may be required to provide proof of oil changes with receipts, so they can at least know how often you changed your own if you DIY. If you only have receipts for 3 oil changes but you have 30K miles, then they can assume on average you went 10K between oil changes. I don't think skimping on oil is worth it considering it's an evo. Based on the mitsu bulletin that was released a while back, I am now doing 3 month oil change intervals.

By Law, a warranty cannot be voided due to maintenance practices (Intervals).
The OEM must prove that was the fault. By Law, they bear "The Burden of Proof"
Dealers always try to pull the wool over your eyes telling you this or that will void your warranty. A Dealer cannot void a warranty for anything. It must be done by an OEM Rep.

Does everyone understand that if Mits tries to enforce the Mobil 1 part that they are "Required By Law" to pay for the M-1 during the Warranty Period ?
If you read that bulletin, 3000 miles "or sooner" , how do you know when to change ?
Check the oil every time you fill up with gas ?
I think a visit to the FTC Website is in order.
