29 psi! Need to lower boost!!!

Hey guy,
Im running the Cobb AP with a full TBE and the AEM intake. Obviously im running their stage 2 map on 93 octane. I was running the HKS stage 2 map previously before the AEM map without any problems. I am now spiking to 29 psi and sometimes throw a p1235 code. Although I haven't seen any bad knock or anything I still need to get this undercontrol.

Would lenghting the wastegate actuator rod help me out in this sitation?

Thanks for your help!!!

is it holding the 29psi?
Are you familiar with Access tuner race?

No its certainly not holding the 29psi but its long enough to trigger the CEL. I have used Access Tuner with my 04 STi however I haven't tried to use it yet with my Evo.

Id like to keep the stock boost control system for the time being but I guess that has to be considered if I can't get anything else to work.

You don't need a boost controller. Stock ECU boost is far superior, you just need to tune it.

It is almost definitely the lower temps outside. It's fall right now and getting colder. This will make your car boost more.

You need to go through your boost tables and lower them a bit, probably just in the lower rpm ranges, since your turbo will naturally fall off later anyway. I wouldn't bother with the wastegate actuator, its a ***** to get that heat shield off, at least i thought it was.

I use ecuflash, so not sure with cobb, but if the race version is available to everyone just use that to lower your boost tables.

Stock ECU boost control might be good, but not as good as the HKS EVC for example, mine holds 27 psi flat to redline on every gear, that wasn't possible with the stock ECU boost control.

I wonder why every tuned EVO X in Japan that I came across has the HKS EVC installed hmmm Someone has to enlighten our Japanese friends

I am telling you the HKS no matter how good it is, isn't as good as a 3 port with stock ecu.

And I sure hope you aren't telling me the Evo X turbo holds 27 to redline....because that is impossible.

Notice that I said redline 7k and not rev limiter.

Stock ECU boost control is just as good as EVC if not better. The stock solenoid and setup leads a little to be desired. That's where a 3 port solenoid upgrade comes in.

+1 (I spike to 29 PSI on cold days or nights and I don't throw any CELS). I might get a little knock on 91 oct..haha but I'm working on that

sorry to thread jack but im in a similar situation

i have an intake, tbe, and a tune from DG motors. I spike 27-28 psi now that its getting cooler out. Im a little worried for how much boost ill hit in 0 degree weather.

is 27-30 psi something to worry about or will i be safe with the tune?
the boost is somewhat inconsistent, sometimes it will spike 25, sometimes 28.

good luck to op.

Thank you He thinks he is holding 27psi to redline...broken boost gauge anyone?

It's either that or my upgraded blitz actuator and EVC are working hard to hold boost
