Complete engine cutoff on the highway

I was pulling out of the tolls here in Atlanta today and was on the gas pretty hard, when I got a total cut out from the engine, the full service engine screen showed up and the car just died. The engine was still running but the throttle did nothing (i could hear the intake pulling air, but my revs weren't moving) and I had to just slowly coast off to the shoulder.

I figured I had popped off an intercooler hose or something, but no dice. I fired the car back up and the tach was jumping from 400-1200 pretty quick...killed it and tried one more time and it was fine. Still has the SES light on, but only seems to be in limp mode now.

I know I need to pull the code (and will tomorrow) but anyone have any idea what this could be? I get the overboost (p1245) all the time, but this was much more serious it seemed.

Sounds like you hit the torque limiter hard cut. Those really suck... just disconnect the ECU or battery negative for a few minutes and you'll be fine. Get your tune looked at, focusing on the torque limiter tables, to prevent this in the future.

You can disable the torque-related codes (see tephra's thread) and the hard cut won't happen again, but from what I've found the Service Required screen still comes up unless you re-tune the torque limiter maps.

Use your Cobb AP to clear the code.

this happens to me 3 times 1241 code.engine cut off the highway.scared the hell out of me.needle was jumping 1000-2000 rpm crazy.this only started after a tune.went back to my tuner and he adjusted the torque table.so far no limp mode yet for 2 months.but once in a while the rpm needle jump back and forth from 1800-1000. probably its my ssqv bov causing this rpm needle to fluctuate?...dont have a clue.....

Yeah I cleared it this morning. Part of the issue is I'm using an Off-the-shelf map from Cobb...Stage 2+ SF Intake...and I know that doesn't cover specific 02 housing downpipes or UICP/LICP's.

So it's partly my fault. I'll get the tune done soon and hopefully be straight.

It's nice. A huge scene of import ricers though, which is a major turn off for me. A lot of bling too.
