I need 30 to 50 WHP more - help pls
Hi folks,
After a hiatus from the Evo world, I've gotten back thru a X GSR just recently. I've had a V, VIII and a X GSR before.
I've just installed a HKS intake, HKS Legamax system and a custom tune (1.3 bar = 19 psi at 11.8 AFR) and have only gotten 250WHP (+25 to 30 over stock). Conditions were I drive are - 91 octane, 90 to 95 degree's F, very humid. These are the reasons my tuner insists on not going over 20 psi boost. He's said I can get +30 WHP easily with a more free flow exhaust but I HATE drone.
So how can I get plus 30 to 50 WHP given these factors?
Thanks guys.

Get an exhaust that is not loud.. You won't get much droning. Try either the ETS duals or the "Butcher" (as I like to call them) quite exhaust. Also try getting a high flow filter? If you don't have one already...

from the philippines? good... remove the cat and get a test pipe.. and yes get a better ic..back there it is very humid..and it could get really hot...
i'm not sure what is the conversion of the octane rating there..petron blaze is 96octane..your tuner is a bit on the safe side..i guess you could boost it at around 23-24 psi with blaze..

Petron Blaze if measured using similar methods in the USA is 91 octane. Thanks dude.

Pre, that doesn't make a lot of sense... you installed an HKS intake & exhaust, plus a tune and you only gained 25-30whp over stock? If you check out the tuning forums, there are a LOT of 100% stock Xs that gained at least 55whp JUST with a tune (also running 91oct here in california, check out GST's tuned stock X dyno charts), pushing 25psi peak boost. Are you guys using ECUflash and tactrix cables there too? I've been using NJ's freebie tune (slightly modded) for several months now with great success... I peak over 23psi (100% stock), haven't dynoed the car yet... but I'm guessing I gained at least 40whp vs. stock. If you want, I can PM you the thread so you can check the maps out.
With an intake+catless 3" exhaust and a proper tune, you should be able to gain ~80whp over stock. If you have a wideband and a tactrix cable, you can do an email tune with NJ or GST just by showing them your logs... PM GST or nj1266.
-edit- bah I forgot the humidity over there, but is it that big of an impact? you are also at sea level (Manila?)... bah I guess your tuner might be right about not pushing the boost levels for absolute safety, but consult with some of the tuners here see what they think. Florida has high humidity also (similar to Pinas), and tuners over there are pushing very high boost levels (see TTP Engineering dyno charts).
