which downpipe to get?

hi i was wondering what's a good setup for the evo x on the downpie/testpipe.
i was looking into a invidia catted dp/hfc 1piece. but wanted to see what my other options are. im coming from a suby so not used to test pipes lol its either catless or catted dp for subies so yea.
i want to keep at least a hfc in the set up to keep the noise lvl down on the exhaust but yea.
are the turbo xs front pipe downpipes?
i was looking at a turbo xs set up and it said front pipe and cat pipe. im guessing is the downpipe and test pipe equivalent?
im open to suggestions
currently running a invidia q300 catback and stage one ap cobb. looking to go stage 2 .
thanks for the help in advanced

Go with the Invidia. It will match up nicely to your catback. I installed the Invidia catted down-pipe yesterday.

If you went with the Turbo XS route, you have different options for an O2/DP combo. I kept the factory O2 in place and simply swapped for the Invidia.

I don't think anyone is seeing any gains with just a down-pipe. You need a piece that incorporates the O2 housing like AMS, or ETS.

I recommend stock 02/DP until you run a bigger turbo. I have not seen clear gains from this mod. There is a Buschur thread where he mentions something similar.

i am going to get the dp and the test pipe together with a cat so dp and a catted pipe. i just want to run a stage 2 on the cobb ap that says it requires turbo back exhaust system

correct me if im wrong, but the the regular dp's connect to the stock 02? and the 02 dp's replace everything from the turbo rite? and i hear the install on the 02 dp's are kinda pain dealing with the studs? so yea let me know what you guys think

I honestly think you should get from the O2 back. With just the dp you will see little to no gains. All the power comes from replacing the O2 housing, and no one makes just the O2 housing. Get from the O2 back. You're going wind up paying twice if you just get a dp.

I haven't read a Buschur thread talking about minimal gains from replacing the O2 housing. If there is one can you please post the link.

AMS sells a HFC. Kind of expensive. I went with a test pipe. Car runs like a charm.

I went with the Invidia DP w/100 cell cat. It's a very quality piece. I don't plan on upgrading the turbocharger anytime soon so didn't want to go the O2 route and didn't want to go TP. I know the DP power gains are minimal but I got a good deal on mine and it eliminates an exhaust junction which IMO is never a bad thing.

We build aa o2/downpipe as well as a HFC Test Pipe. The price to add a cat to the test pipe is $99.00

Thanks!

There are many parts that produced minimal gains with a stock turbo setup, once you upgrade the turbo though, all bets are off! I've found the Ultimate Racing O2 DP, AMS, ETS are all excellent products from what I've seen. My latest upgrade was to an ATP O2 DP that could switch from internal WG mode to external TIAL WG mode. I went that route since my Turbo had an internal WG failure and it seemed like the smartest solution to avoid having to send my turbo in for warranty work and have my daily driver out out of commision.

Part of the reason peak gains were never that big with the stock turbo is that boost tapers so much at higher RPM's so flow increases don't help as much as they should with the turbo already maxxed out for flow. I'm starting to notice that upgrades when you are 300-400 crank HP are not always sized right when you are in the 500-600 crank HP range.

and yea i dont plan on upgrading the turbo since i have the MR, and dont wana deal with too much power and torque for my tranny, but in the future i might change my mind as more mods for the sst tranny comes out. its better to do it right the 1st time from my experience. haha so i think ill be looking to get the 02/dp with a hfc pipe
