Wow can't believe I missed this thread. Good info though, because I'm thinking of getting an intercooler in the next couple months. I'll probably hop on the ETS bandwagon, haha!

Does anyone know if there are any Canadian distributors of ETS products?

Hey Michael,

You have yet to advise me and I will really appreciate your input.

ETS Micheal,

I am writing to you for an advise.

I have been told that the 3inch core is good enough and any bigger will suffer from "lag"

My current car config is as below:
Cat-delete
ARC Induction Box
Cat-back Trust PE II
AGP Upper and Lower ICP
EcuTEK tuned (crank 416ps)

Ongoing:
ETS IC Core
GSS342
Injectors perhaps either 800cc to 1000cc
Fuel rail
either CBRD blue billet turbo or Tomei Arms Turbo or maybe FP Green
Cams - No sure as yet. Leaning towards Tomei Procams (but no news yet) or Kelford 272s or Cowswoth MX1.

Please advise my choice for IC cooler

I wanted the 4" ETS. When I went to order it (on 1-11-10), they were up to 4 weeks back ordered. (Thanks to all the sales they've been having.) I ended up getting the Perrin instead.

Can you comment on your perrin quality, Golden? Some guy posted above about the endtanks tapering or something?

I didn't understand that post. Quality was great. My only complaint is that the bottom bracket that they stick on may have been a hair off center, like 1/8th inch. So I couldn't get my IC perfectly centered.

If you want to see pictures, here are some shots of when I first got it:

And here are shots of the install:

I believe I was the one that made that post...

The Perrin intercoolers have the cast end tanks which have thicker inlet and outlets, so the flow going into the intercooler will measure less than 2.5", more likely around 2.0", due to the casting thickness unless they are ported.

ETS uses a tube inlet and outlet, so the wall thickness is much thinner on tube than casting. This makes it a higher flowing unit.

I've had both brand FMICs... Perrin on my VIII and ETS 4" on my X. The Perrin was better than I thought it was going to be, but you can definitely see a better build quality in the ETS. Both are stand up companies, but for the X I wanted to go with a bigger intercooler and it made sense to keep the inlets and outlets as large as possible.

I opted to order the ETS 4inch thick FMIC kit, regardless of the wait.

I went with a 4.0" ETS when they were on special for the holidays. Installation was a breeze, and required absolutely no modifications. Came with all the clamps & hoses I needed.

This, along with the AMS turbo-back exhaust (dual tip, downpipe, high flow cat.), Nisei UICP, HM "Filter on a stick", and a Cobb AP I hit 344 HP / 350 TQ tuned.

So I am happy with my ETS intercooler, noticed no lag really, and it gives me great room for upgrading the turbo later.

One note: I liked the ETS because I am currently in Arizona where we hit high temperatures and ground itself becomes "heat soaked." But I am moving to Chicago now, so it is less of a worry, although in the higher humidity I think the ETS will do a good job as well.

Quick Reply: Ets, perrin, ur, or ams intercooler?
