A buddy of mine was taking an automotive class and a guy in the class said he bent a valve due to the filter. Allegedly when the filter gets wet it dosnt do a very good job of keeping the moisture from getting sucked in. Now there may have been some underlying issues that may have contributed to this. I am just repeating what i was told. I didnt have any issues when i had mine, but just took it off to be on the safe side.

I've been running the Spectre since May of 08 and have never had any issues, hell it was on there for almost 2 years before I replaced it. I left the intake tubing and the front half of the airbox on. Never had a hiccup or overheating of any kind, summer heat of 100 or winter cold of 10. Temp was always the same. Never had any kind of wet issues either, thunderstorm, snowstorm or whatever.
