Cosworth Cams Untuned Question

Hey i was wondering if it's safe to run Cosworth cams + dual valve springs on a stock Evo X? Supporting mods will be coming in the future. The motor is being overhauled so i was wondering.

I'm in a dilemma! lol

Spend the money on cams + dual valve springs/ti retainers or do exhaust/intake. Motor is being overhauled and forged internals are going in, so budget is tight now. My problem is that doing head work down the road will cost me a lot more overall with labor.

I wasn't plan on porting. I was planning on doing Ferrea Dual Valve Springs and Titanium Retainers as a drop in.

Forged Pistons, Rods, upgraded bearings, headgasket, ARP studs all around are going int the car now. Mid/late summer i plan to do 35R (hopefully AMS releases it by then). That's why i haven't really been focusing on getting bolt-ons. It should come with an intake, downpipe, uicp, manifold, ewg, etc.

Only thing i really need now is a FMIC, CBE, TP/HFC, 3-port, upgraded BPV that doesn't leak and cause issues, and a tune.

Talk about going back asswards, but I feel ya, it will be cheaper to do it now than doing it later.

Yup. Doing the same right now except went with the Cossie dual springs. They are probably overpriced, tho.

Why are you guys doing springs even worst dual springs,, are you reving past
8K ??

specially on a close to stock evo,, double springs put extra wear and tear on valvetrain components

I just realized that tomei released pomcams for the X. I'm actually considering that more. It seems to be more tame yet gives better airflow.

If he is going to run a 35R then yes he will get big gains after 8k.

...and I'm taking a BBX to 9k. It's easy to go bigger once the motor is built to handle anything that you want to throw at it.

All the aftermarket springs are low pressure anyway so that would be my last worry. More important than that is running more boost and a larger cam on the soft stock spring.

I'm actually debating now in getting Cosworth MX1 with their single valve springs or the Tomei Poncam. The Tomei is a tamer cam but I know they put a ridiculous Amount of R&D into their products. Also if I decide to do them, would the cosworth springs be compatible with the tomei.
