OK, I think there is some incorrect info going around the web regarding this issue. When you are installing the SSP peice, you're supposed to push in the piston gently after its been lubricated to avoid any damage to delicate rubber seals. some users had this problem since they pushed in the piston rather abruptly. I am not saying its their fault, it's what happened. SSP is providing support to these users as well apparently.

I contacted Jeremy from SSP before I made the purchase and talked to him about it, I suggest anyone with pre-conceived notions about this product get in touch with them directly and have your questions answered. I also got the upgraded Plunger. SSP said the Stock spring that goes into the cylinder is also weak and they are looking to release an upgraded one. Once they have it out, those of us that already have the SSP kits will be able to pop out the stock spring and replace it with this new one being developed. Hope that clears some of the doubts out there.

My clutch install is this Saturday and I am getting everything done professionally. Fingers Crossed .....

I'm not saying their product is bad or SSP is bad, in-fact the opposite...

I had one (have one) sitting on my shelf waiting to go in, friend of mine's was leaking so I let him try mine and the seals on them both were bad and were from the same batch...

It's not an SSP design problem it was a manufacturer problem, pictures of the replacements we've gotten vs. the original ones show the differences in the seals themselves...

So my info comes from first-hand experience + talking with SSP,

But yes bad installs are also a large portion of some of these failures...

That's interesting. So you're saying the pictures have the old seal that was causing the problem, and then you got a replacement seal that looks different and corrects the problem. Is that correct?

Do you happen to have a picture of the replacement? I would like to compare it to mine before I install it. Here's a crappy iphone pic of mine.

Yes, more or less...

Replace 'you' with my friend and yes that is correct...

We've actually got pictures of all 4 (two failed two fresh from SSP) sitting together and there is a visible difference...

But it was a localized problem which has been addressed...

I recommend buying the upgraded plunger too when you order the SSP MC, SSP released it days after I had their MC installed. After 2k miles with the SSP MC and stock plastic plunger, the plunger snapped in two pieces while driving. I do have the exedy stage 2 HD, so guess it was a matter of time.

I have the same problem and I ordered a master and a slave cylinder oem, and the ACT MB8-HDSS clutch, is this a bad combination? will the act clutch bee too much for the oem cylinders? I don't know anything about cars. (so be gentle on me). I'm getting everything professionally installed.

yes, your MC is most likely going to give up sooner or later. Get the AMS reinforcement ring if you're on a budget and cannot return the OEM part or the SSP MC kit if you got cash.

If you go SSP, get the Plunger AND the MC if possible, for everlasting peace of mind, so to speak.
