I understand.. You have to go with what's in the budget. Honestly, I wouldn't go with anything under a 35R. 800rpm difference is nothing, you may get a little morel ow end grunt on the stock frame, but the top end will be night and day difference.

But I actually do putt around in 5th and 4th at 2800rpm or so and enjoy just stabing the throttle to pass someone. I don't want to have to drop a gear to 4500 rpm to pass someone.

For a track setup or for someone that enjoys cruising around 4k a T3 seems great!

Passing at 2800rpm? Damn, I wouldn't even attempt that on a stock spooling turbo! GEAR DOWN SON!

OK, I guess I caused my oen thread to go off topic

Since a T3 setup is not even close to my budget, let's keep this to stock framed turbos

Bryan / Chad, when will we see some more BBX-lite results?

I don't mean passing because you lane is ending...LOL just a quick stab to easily get around them.

If your MIVEC is aggressive, the stock turbo makes good TQ at 2800!

It is and yes that's right, but I'd never feel safe doing so.

I sure as hell won't be doing this anymore....this is part of the reason I think my motor went, flooring it at too low of an rpm instead of more near like 3.5k or higher.

NO.

This happened because of a RED turbo at 33psi on E85 and TQ at what?...450

Well yea that was the main reason, but the torque was insane if you punched it at lower rpms it seemed, its rough on the motor to punch it at that low.

450-460 i think.

correct,

if you are driving a car in straight line, and ALWAYS shifting at redline, i agree, a large frame turbo can have its benefits..

but in the case of what 98% of our client base is (daily drivers, weekend auto-x, road racing) the stock housing turbos are typically being used in their sweet spot more than a large frame turbo..

remember, we do everything.. stock housing, we have our evo X long header tial setup coming, and compact tial housing setup... and our stock frame options... why because there is no universal solution...

5 years ago everyone was going 35R 35R 35R... then the stock housing stuff came out, and people saw the benefits of the applications and look how that niche grew??

Michael, I think we both agree....... to disagree LOL

While we await Bryans BBX-lite test.....

Let's see if my findings are correct.

I have found by looking at various dyno graphs that these turbo's can:

Code:
Turbo 3k 3.5k
Green 230-260 ft/lbs 340-360ft/lbs
Red 150-180 ft/lbs 250-280 ft /lbs
After 4-4.5k the RED takes over for sure.

Is this what everyone is seeing?
