Tell me why I wouldn't want a green..seriously.
Someone please tell me again why I wouldn't want a FP Green turbo.
If I am reading these dyno graphs correctly, the green can provide 260+ ft/lbs from 3000 to 7500 rpm on pump gas without cams and very close to 400awhp.

My goals:
Street DD car only
Pump gas ONLY
No Cams, Meth, or E85
~400whp
Stock or close spool
Reliability, don't want to build the bottom end yet.

Me too!
I thought I was past the decision stage, but then I ran across those Dyno charts and compared power bands to other turbo's.
It seems that the green has a longer power band (250tq from 3k - 7.5k) versus anything else I have seen including the red.
I guess I could always get valve springs and a red and rev to 8.5k and get a longer power band that way.
I started this thread for people to show me something I am missing. I am not chasing more and more power. I've been there and done that with other cars.
I want to keep the X a nice street car and less a track car. I think 380-410whp is all the power I will need for years to come. And it should really be reliable power.
Again, if someone can show me a better power band with the limitations I have imposed, please let me know.

I got a used red for sale in the for sale forum. I loved it. Great power And spools up darn fast. With a set of cams it is a great street daily driver turbo. Wanted more power personally so went to a GT35R HTA and it is definitely laggier. Not much happens until 4000 rpm

getting a bigger turbo would increase reliability if that is what u want
because running lower psi and generating the same hp on the red versus the green that need to run high psi and also generating the same hp
the choice is obvious huh?
besides, the increase lag is just few hundred rpm comparing the red and the green

Get the red. You lose a bit of spool yes. But trust me, going from the stock turbo with E-85 to the red on E-85... losing a bit of spool can be a good thing.
If you want less power than the red hits, run it at a lower PSI. It will be safer for your engine and still flow more than enough air to blow by every non-modded or slightly-modded car out there.
I went with the Red because I knew that if I got a Green I would want more. So I went the next step higher.
I did the exact same thing with my injectors. I got the 1100's for breathing room, and I need them now.

I personally think you go with the FP Green if you are autocrossing. Torque is king, which is why everyone learns to brake boost in autocross with turboed cars.
If you are going for straight horsepower build go FP red.

The problem with the red is you need to run a lot of boost to make good power.
So for pump (not meth/e85) that is a problem...
Maybe wait for Bryan to install his BBXLite and see what sort of numbers it does...
Red is about 300-500 rpms more laggy than the Green - Maybe the BBXLite will fill in that gap nicely?
