How hard would it be to to just buy a fuel pump and hardware and install a inline pump? Couldn't seem to find a diy and I would think it would be alot less expensive than the ams or map kit

Thought about blaqops, but read their support is lacking. Also AMS install seems easier.

I called AMS regarding their 1000HP fuel kit, and I was told it was E85 compatible.

Agreed. When I had my DSM on dual pumps the in-tank pump was not my first diagnosis but ended up being the final result. At the time my intank pump went out within about 6 months of adding the inline pump and I hear that is not uncommon when adding a inline pump.

When I do mod my X I will go with a Full Blown setup and use a Hobb Switch.

I am pretty sure the OP got it figured on the wire he needed.

well i got it in and running but not without a lot of extra time. This unit needs a complete set of directions with every avalible configuration. I had alot of car projects going on at the same time and it took me about a month to get the wireing finished after the pump install. When i went to fire the car i could hear the pumps running but was not getting fuel so i pulled the housing. When i looked in the tank both of my pumps had fallen out of the housing and the fuel lines had poped off the housing. After some investigation i realised the fittings were not long enough to properly get the fuel line clamped above the ridge on the fitting. Over time the weight of the pumps hanging pulled them off the nipples. There is nothing holding the pumps together or suspending the weight of the pumps i had to rebuild the entire setup. I am baffled as to how this pump ever got one positive review. Buyer Beware

There's nothing hard about it...it's the time you'll spend finding all of the correct lines, fittings, and electrical pieces. MDR also sells inline kits through MAP. You can work with your salesperson at MAP to get a variety of configurations: Walbro, Bosch 044, and with/without a surge tank. If you're running E85 then I'd recommend the Bosch option.
