Rear diff fluid change help.

I just took at look at Russels DIY

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/mi...rvice-how.html

For the Rear diff on page 00-79 It looks like there are two drain plugs and two fill plugs. One holds LSD gear oil and the other holds ATF SPIII fluid. It looks like just a drain and fill for the ATF SPIII fluid but I thought that had the be bled via the MUT tool. Is this drain and fill separate from the ATF SPIII resevoir in the trunk?

Yes. Both the rear differential gear oil and ATF fluids are simple drain/fill jobs.

Both drains use a 10mm hex bit. The gear oil (Diaqueen 90W LSD) fill bolt is on the front of the rear diff case and the ATF (Diamond ATF SP III) is on the rear of the case.

Has anyone used anything other than Diaqueen 90W LSD and had success. Im thinking of using an amsoil instead.

People have used Redline, Mobil 1, Amsoil, etc. Everyone has their own opinions on the matter. Use which you like best, for me it's the straight 90W Diaqueen.

Does any of that require "bleeding?"

Thank you! There are so many threads about this. This is the only thread that's consistent and I trust!

Also, for maintenance-wise purposes, change the transmission fluid (front transfer case), the gear oil, and the torque transfer mechanism part. That takes care of ALL the transmission fluids that need to be regularly changed (~30k mi or so) correct?

-transmission
-transfer case
-rear diff mechanism
-rear diff tq transfer

These should all be done ever 15-30k miles depending on conditions.

But since I have a GSR the transfer case is the transmission correct?

Not unless you have a Subaru

The above list I made applies to all Evo X's: GSR, SE, & MR. In addition, the SE/MR also has a transmission filter to replace.

Is it too much of a trouble to ask to see the difference between the transmission and transfer case?

I don't really understand what you are saying. The tranny is close to the drivers front wheel. The t-case is next to that, on the "passenger side" of it..
