Diff pins failing symptoms

I just want to put together a thread that lists all the symptoms of your diff pins failing. This way people can possibly diagnose the problem before it becomes a huge problem, like me.

So, if you know of any symptoms of diff pin failure or failing, post them up, and I can update this first post if you suggest so.

usually the first symptom seems to be a puddle of gear oil under your car =/

There is a rattle if you are in transition from throttle to no-throttle. It goes aways if you press the gas a little to put a little more load on the tranny. Then a week later the puddle comes

I notice a rattling metal sound if I'm slowing down and am in too low of a gear (3rd @ say 15mph) or if I'm accelerating sloooowly and going through the gears...the sound seems to be heard coming from the rear. AM I IN TROUBLE?!?!

How loud is the rattle?

I have a fairly quiet rattle (but you can hear it) when I lift and coast in gear at 3K rpm or so. Doesn't happen at lower rpms and goes away completely if pressing the gas a little or the clutch. I'm pretty sure its always done that, but I'm admittedly a little paranoid since I just took the car out after the winter and installed several new parts so I'm listening to every noise. To give an idea - you can't hear it with the heater fan on.

Im going on my 3rd tranny due to the diff pin failure....the only time I knew there was an issue is seeing a puddle of oil under the car....I never noticed any noises, grinds, popouts, etc...but this time im playing it smart and purchased and tranny and sent it out to shep to get a full rebuild plus diff pin mod

Thanks for the feedback. I will keep an eye out for leaks and go from there.

I suggest if you guys track the car, especially DRAG...just save yourself the time and headaches and contact shep, buschur, etc. and get the tranny done.
