With no tuning involved and larger flow area we were able to gain over 20whp by switching from the stock intercooler to the 4.0" thick. The 3.0" is capable of supporting your power goals no problem.
The main reason for going with the larger intercoolers are for customers who are pushing the turbos out of there efficiency range and need a little more of a buffer against heat soak. You will not see a loss in spool with the larger core.
