Boost Solenoid Explanation

Ok, I am fairly competent when it comes to these things, but could someone give me the quick and dirty on the boost solenoid? Looking at the way its plumbed, there is a pressure line going straight to the wastegate...why would it also need to go into this solenoid setup and then back to the intake??

Please enlighten me!

It's basically a fancy bleed valve.

Essentially it bleeds the pressure coming from the intake to delay the wastegate spring from actuating the wastegate. Say the spring will compress at 10psi opening the wastegate, the solenoid delays that from happening by bleeding some of the boost. This is what happens when you "raise" your boost.
