double pump goodness inside :)
we had a customer call us asking for a fuel system that can supply fuel for 750whp. he wanted the surge tank system we make as well, so we decided to take the surge tank to the next level for this build!!
original system:
the original system simply uses a single external walbro 255 pump with an approx 2L surge tank. all braided fuel lines, and anodized aluminum fittings.
the double pumper has more equipment and hoses to fit in there, so we played around and this is what we have:
and the system will still fit in the cubby like this:
we have test fit it on our shop car and just waiting for one backordered fitting to finish it

also, have you all tested this? two pumps pulling from one outlet... I feel there's flow issues you'll run into rather quickly there.
my 'elegant' solution is posted on the other site... required a bit more commitment than hiding a surge tank in the trunk though.
I do like the design for a single pump.

Actually, I'd bet money you'll never be able to starve the engine using a 2 liter surge tank. If you had 1600cc injectors running 100% duty cycle, it's 6400cc/min or 6.4l per minute. That would take 18.7 seconds to completely drain a 2l surge tank assuming your intank pump is totally starved. So, since no one is maxing out 1600cc injectors for 18 seconds non- stop in a hard gee turn, it's safe to say you'll never drain the tank.
So it's safe to say it would work well in the most demanding autocross course you can conceive. And since it's silly to use double pumpers in an autocross setting to begin with, it should last you 30-40 seconds of hard, uninterupted cornering at max throttle
6an lines can flow significantly more then two walbro pumps, so no, I don't believe we will have any issues there. We have a fuel test rig to test it though.

It was designed for 2L which is still over kill, the final dimensions shrunk slightly, and last time I checked it was like 1.7l. I'll measure again. Still, you'll never be WOT for 10 seconds non stop in a corner where your in tank is starved. Your average corner is only 3-6 seconds on a road course and almost always at part throttle. If your making 750whp it's definitely going to be part throttle through a corner
Our single pump surge tank has been track tested a bunch already and we have never had a starvation issue since installing it. That's with Hoosier r6 tires, pulling sustained 1.4gees

we tested the tank saturday, with 4x 1450cc injectors running wide open, and no sending unit attached to the tank, it lasted 15.8 seconds before fuel pressure dropped off.
with a single pump attached and only 2x 1450cc injectors running wide open, it lasted 29.8 seconds before fuel pressure dropped.
both calculations come out to be around 1.5L of volume which after measuring it, is about right. regardless, no one will be starving the tank for 15.8 seconds non-stop so nothing to worry about
