Problems with SES Light Going On/Off
I have an '08 X MR. About a month ago my Service Engine Soon light came on while I was heading out of town. But as I left to come back a couple days later, it went right back off. Then, about two weeks later, back on and off. It was throwing a P0014 code.
Last week, I took it into the dealer and explained all the issues. They pulled the code and promptly did nothing since the SES light wasn't currently on (bastards, but getting this on record was my main goal). They recommended that I get an oil change, which I did.
Anyway, on another out of town trip this past weekend it came back on again and was right back off when I set off for home a couple days later. Then again this morning it came back on again. What I've noticed with at least the last two times that the light has come on is that it's come on during hard acceleration. But with the past few times, both instances have occurred on the interstate at 60+ as I get past traffic.
I haven't been able to see/feel/hear any difference at all with my car throughout this past month. As far as I can tell, it's just the same zippy little monster that I've always driven. There are no odd vibrations, shifting hasn't been impacted in any mode, and acceleration is just as quick and responsive as it used to be. I'm hoping that somebody may be able to shed some light on this mystery for me.

Sounds like your sensor is having an intermittent problem picking up the camshaft position.
I'd take it back to the dealer, they should've been able to pull the historic code even if it wasn't there. Tell them its been popping up a lot and you want it fixed.
If you don't think they will do anything, take it to another dealer if you can.
You are stock so you shouldn't have to deal with that kind of stuff, thats reserved for us idiots that mod.

Yep, I'm definitely taking it back to the dealer but I prefer to keep their hands off of my car as much as possible. Obviously, though, with something a potentially risky as an engine problem, I have to make exceptions. But if it's only a sensor then there shouldn't be too many chances for them to mess something up.
