cobb sf intake question..

before i get flamed for asking this.. yes, i did try to google this.. lol

is this intake really ok without any tuning? no cel codes or limp home mode? and it gets really really really hot here in vegas (110-120 degrees) which means my a/c will always be on during the day, will i have crazy idle issues? ive been reading up on this and people are saying this and that, yes and no, yada yada yada. no one is giving consistent answers.

any input would be greatly appreciated!

Its my understanding that adding any really well flowing intake will lean the motor out a bit without some tuning. Are you using a COBB accessport? If you are just download an updated map. Otherwise give Chris Fleming a call at COBB tuning in Plano. He'll shoot you straight.

im not running an accessport yet, but i will soon. its just that some claim that the sf intake doesnt require any tuning. and since its cheaper than the accessport, i figured i should get it first.
plus i dont have any choice but to run an accessport since vegas doesnt have any tuners, id have to settle for off the shelf and base maps from the AP unit..

I had this intake on my old Evo X. With the ac on the idle will bounce around from 800-1100 rpms. I bolted it up and drove around with out a tune for a little bit.

Check out Doug's DynoPower.

I'm getting this intake again on my new one.

The Cobb intake retains the stock MAF housing so you wont have to worry about running too lean. When I installed mine I did have a bouncy idle with the AC on, but fabbing up a heat shield is cheap and easy. Search for Cobb heat shield and youll find examples I and a few others have posted.
