My custom air intake heat shield/stock airbox
I refuse to spend several hundred dollars on a small piece of intake pipe, filter and shield like most aftermarket companies charge, so I simply used a K&N filter with my custom heatshield. I just bought some sheet metal, formed it to fit the area needed, spray painted it matte black and bolted it to the part of the stock airbox. Total spent? $60 w/k&n.... It may not be the prettiest, but it actually looks pretty decent, and does a great job blocking off the hot air

I would assume it does something, every aftermarket intake comes with some sort of shield or enclosure...I know part of the reason is to block the air from when the a/c fan is on, but it does also block some of the hot air from the engine..for less than $20 I couldn't go wrong
