there's no CF for the X, though its not hard to get a custom one made. Just $$$
This is an interesting part, but I worry about removing one of the joints mitsu had - surely there is a reason for the joint..

I was also thinking about that. My guess is that a huge amount of stress is placed on the shaft at that point, so breaking it in two alleviates that. If nothing else, a one-piece should be reinforced at the point of that joint.
