buschur crossflow question

i bought this exhaust from a member here, it was in very good condition and i love the sound. now to the drawback.. the clamp that connects the muffler to the mid pipe keeps on slipping, i find my muffler pointing down after a couple of days. me and my buddy used an impact gun to tighten the bolts/clamp but it doesnt seem to work. im gonna try buying a new set of clamps but i read that someone else had the same issues even after replacing them and was forced to just weld. i do not want to go this route.. is there anything i can do after buying new clamps to ensure that my muffler wouldnt slip anymore? any input would be appreciated! thanks!

I have the magnaflow exhaust which is very similar and I had to put some metal shims between the two pipes at that same location and then tighten the clamp down in order to get the connection tights so that the exhaust would not move around on me.

That being said if I run into issues again I am just going to get the connection welded.

I suggest new clamps and use a GOOD impact gun. Shouldnt be an issue after that, we sell them all the time with no complaints.

I had the same thing happen with mine.

I ended up just tack welding it in place.

No reason for it to slip if the clamp is tightened with an impact. If you don't care about taking it apart again, get a standard 3" muffler clamp from the parts store and use an impact to put it on, it won't slip then.

Get the right clamp from Bushur they sell them as a kit and probably fit better brand new. Here is the issue when you impact gun the clamps it's good for one time use, there is no torque involved your just tightening the hell out of actually causing the thread to get stretched causing the clamp get loose. Trust me I work at a dealer and have plenty of experience. Just get a new clamp and Impact gun it in and it should be fine.

i'll try again with new clamps, everything you guys said made perfect sense!

ps. i dont want to sway people from getting this exhaust, its awesome all around and the sound is perfect! i would recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet but deep rumbling tone!

The exhaust is fairly quiet, but has a nice growl to it once you get on it. However I do have the Ultimate Racing mini muffler installed as well.

It was exactly what I wanted.

A fly by from some weekend fun up north here:

(Most likely will need to save as first, and then play it)
