I will say this, Thermal coated is nice, the port work is second to none and you should call Chris Carey and ask him what he would think about the anti surge. I know your looking for the x but when I was talking to him about my ef4, he had some compairisons with and without the anti surge. I am sure it holds true to the x turbos as well. Give him a call or shoot him a pm on here I am sure he will be able to help you out. Either way you get the turbo you can't go wrong.

Pickup phone, call ask questions then place order.

These guys have tested the turbos on diff. cars/setups and will be able to answer all your questions that you can find answers too by searching on here.

All of the little options like porting and such are what really makes your combo. IMHO don't skimp anywhere if you want the most from your setup!

I would pass on the anti-surge with the EF3, it does have an adverse affect on spool and as long as you have a proper BOV we haven't had any surge issues thusfar

Skip the anti-surge, but get all the porting and coating goodies! Like Scheides said, it's really the little things that will make a good setup great. That's why you notice both him and I have among the highest horsepower cars for our respective setups/turbos.

Mr. Carey: I assume the EF3 without the anti-surge cover retains the stock inlet elbow?

Ooh good to know! I have the stock cover on my BBX (about the same size) and have no surging issues. Good compressor designs help a lot with this!

I believe we're still including the 3" elbow as the EF3 inducer yields more of a bellmouth than the EF2, but you could go either way.

It will spool a bit slower (as confirmed by our Evo 8 & 9 testing with and without anti-surge cover), but then again my Evo X EF3 with anti-surge cover appears to be hitting full boost around 3600 so I'm not sure how much room there is for improvement lol
