On my car it took a big jump in power on the stock maf to get from 4.9 to maxed out. I suspect that you can still go quite a ways on the 3.5 " housing probably a good 50 whp. I will have to see if i have any maf voltage logs im currious where i was at when my vdr numbers were 585. I remember thinking i was getting close. If i remember correctly it was close to 4.9

I'd be curious to know. I looked at my logs (i only have a few on my work laptop) and saw like 4.6v as a high, but I think that was before my retune work. I was only running like 14-15 degrees of timing up top and 24-25psi. So 4.9 for Scheides is prolly true.

I went back and looked and i was wrong the most maf voltage i ever ran was 4.67 wich was a 585 run on vdr. Man that turbo looks to be a winner if i can ever keep a motor together for a while im going to look into one. Shiedes what kind of gains did you see from the rev 3 intake manifold?

I never really did a good before/after for the rev3 IM, I still had the stock TB when I put it on. I got the mil.spec TB a month or so later IIRC. The car felt way snappier all over with it though; worth every penny even if I saw no whp gains...but I def felt a seat-in-the-pants improvement up top so I was really happy with both!

It's hard to look at a setup like this and try to find improvement, everything is done right I think, I'm so happy...bigger cams maybe? might add power up top but hurt driveability. more fuel and more boost I think

Hrmmm i have 4.65V on the 3.5" aswell with this turbo ... never taken it over 28psi @8000 though.
4.9V is huge airflow!
You really are in double pumper or surge tank land now Scheides.

See dyno link somewhere above

Motor is a 9:1 MAP stage 1.5 shortblock, stock sleeves, MAP ultimate duty rods and JE pistons. Head was ported and assembled by DB Performance, supertech dual valvesprings and +1mm valves all around. I installed and clearanced Kelford 214-b cams in my garage when I assembled the motor and she has been rock solid for over a year and almost 13k miles!

lil update...EF4 freaking RIPS.

More rpm = more power, the car just does not stop. It seems so docile when driving nicely but go WOT and it's a mix of wanting to watch the tach to make sure I get revs high enough to be in the real power and not daring looking away from the road as the car just eats it up faster than ever. I rode in the 700whp car DB churned out a few years back and no my car is not 'that' fast, but honestly for being my DD the car is officially 'stupid' fast

Midrange needs some work but thanks to mivec the car does not feel lazy as was my lasting impression with FP's Black on Trevor's evo8 a few years back. The turbo snaps back to life inbetween gears just like my BBX did and if I want a little less power all I have to do is short-shift, the car is still fast as hell revving to 'only' 7000rpm.

The fuel system is at its limit on e70 and 31psi. Hughes linked me to this nice article about the Boomba fuel rail for the X yesterday:
http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59514

Between that and Lomker's experience that he continues to share with us via the Internet I am sold and will be picking one up sometime, the car needs more overhead for when e85 comes back.

Virual dyno numbers are fine for now and they are in the neighborhood of a few guys' AMS 750R/PTE 5857 setups even before real tuning begins...I attribute a lot of the top-end awesomeness and extra nice numbers to MAP's 9-blade turbine wheel, the thing seems to act like it has a bigger turbine compared to a standard 11-blade....hitting the rollers...probably wait until I get my summer tires on and a few more bits and pieces to make the most of the setup for another year of ripping and thrashing! AFRs are fine and timing is conservative but climbs steadily, boost is flat...I will have shane brush it up soon enough

That makes me giggle being everyone likes to bash the turbo on how much of a pile it is. Just proves once you put it on your car, reguardless of what the dyno says the thing is just awsome.

Great results regardless. Great power!!! You know I love your write ups!

That's the 3" turbo inlet that replaces the stock unit, it consists of a 3 bolt flange and a 304SS bend that has been welded externally and ported internally.

Thanks, Chris!

It looked a little rough, that's why I asked.

LOL who is calling this thing a pile? I haven't seen that anywhere? If it's like most other people complaining about this or that it's probably due to a sub-optimal setup...having all the little pieces to make the most out of a setup is what really makes it all work.

Yea just the 3" inlet, I think the pic kinda over-accentuates the parts that are ground away, it is pretty damn smooth just some minor spots showing on that transition piece. It's a nice full 3" inlet, looks badass and obviously works
